Computers for Public Use

Public Access
Computers
We offer free use of our public
computers. A library card isn’t needed, but we’d be delighted to give you one
so you can check out books, tapes, DVDs and magazines. Computers for adults are
located in the second floor Reference Dept. Users wait in line for the next
available session (Feel free to peruse a newspaper or magazine while waiting!)
The Internet computers have 30 min. sessions. An “Express” computer with
15 minute Intermet sessions is available, which allows for shorter waits for
those who just need a few minutes online. When your session ends, you may open
a new session if no-one’s waiting. A computer with software for people with
vision impairments is also available. A computer without Internet access is
available for word processing and other Microsoft Office applications. Sign up
for a time slot on this computer at the Circulation Desk. Please note: work
cannot be saved to the Library computers. Please save your work to a
disk, CD or usb device. Disks and CD's are available for purchase at the
Reference Desk. Also, users should be aware that the computers will shut down
automatically 15 minutes prior to closing.
Younger patrons may use the computers in
the Children’s Dept.’s Homework Center. Signed parental permission is required
for youngsters age 12 and below to use the Internet computers. The Library
doesn’t filter, and parents are responsible for monitoring their children’s
computer use. Please see our Acceptable Use
Policy.
