Homebound Delivery
The Friends of the Brooks Free Library "Books on Wheels” service provides free delivery of library materials to Harwich residents who are permanently or temporarily unable to visit the library due to illness, physical disability, lack of transportation, a caregiver of a homebound person, or any reason you're physically unable to get to the library.
To receive the "Books on Wheels” service, you must have a valid Brooks Free Library card. If you do not, please contact the library at 508-430-7562 to apply for a card. Once we have your information we will give your name to our Homebound Coordinator, Barbara Obrig who will contact you. She will either send you a form to fill out or talk with you over the phone about your preferences of library materials you would like to have delivered. Large print and regular print books are available, periodicals, audio books (cassette and cd), music, videos (vhs and dvd), and descriptive videos for the visually impaired. We will do our best to service your needs. All materials are circulated for a month and may be renewed if there isn't a waiting list.
We have volunteers who give individual care to each patron in choosing the library materials that are requested. Volunteer deliverers will drop off your new items to your home or room and will pick up and return your old items. Delivery is on the second and fourth week of each month.
