Thurs., March 11 – 6:30 p.m. – Classics Book Discussion Group - Pick up a copy of Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad and The Death of Ivan Illych by Leo Tolstoy at the Circulation Desk.

 

Fri., March 12 – 2:00 p.m. – Low Vision Current Events Discussion Group –Join us for reading and discussion of current topics. Readers and topics vary each week.

 

Tues., March 16– 5:15 p.m. – Computer Tutor - One-on-one computer tutoring session with Anna Murphy. Registration required. Only one session per person is available so we can serve as many individuals as possible.

 

Wed., March 17 –10:15 a.m. Writers Group– Experienced and aspiring writers are invited to share with each other

 

Wed., March 17 -  12:00 p.m.. – Computer Tutor – One-on-one computer tutoring session with Bonnie Bissette. Registration required. Only one session per person is available so we can serve as many individuals as possible.

 

Wed., March 17 – 12:30– 2:30 p.m. – Knit-Lit Group Experienced knitters and novices are invited to bring their needles and yarn and to share favorite knitting stories and experiences with other knitters

Sat., March 20 – 2:00 p.m. – The Four Shapes of Boston Lecture - The Four Shapes of Boston traces the city’s topography and architecture from 1630 to the present in four chapters: Surviving (the Colonial Period), Settling (the Federal Period), Spreading (the Victorian Period), and Soaring (the Contemporary Period). Presented by John Morrison of Boston By Foot, Boston’s nonprofit architectural walking-tour service.

Sat., March 27 – 10:30 a.m. – Hit and Run History: The Columbia Expedition premiere screening – Following a declaration of national emergency for an epidemic of Dengue Fever in Cape Verde in November, Andrew Buckley and his crew of gumshoe historians made headlines by taking with them and aid worker and relief supplies with them from the Brockton Neighborhood Health Center. Hit and Run History’s visit to the crowded hospital on the island of Fogo is documented in the film.

Sat., April 3 – 2:00 p.m. – Ken Badger Piano Trio – Ken Badger is a composer from England. Under the name of Ken Leray he composed two number one chart hits in England and Europe, a British Grammy award, and composed music for a children’s TV show, Doctor Snuggles, shown worldwide. In Nashville he had two songs recorded by Eddy Arnold. Ken’s songs have been awarded two gold records. Playing jazz piano is a favorite hobby and his trio often gives tribute concerts to Erroll Garner’s music. The concert will feature music from Gershwin to the Beatles with a little fun mixed in. Arrive early to assure admission (attendance is limited to 90 due to fire laws).

 

 

Funding for programs comes from the Howard W. Lang Trust Fund
and from the Friends of the Brooks Free Library.

All programs are presented free of charge and are open to the public.

New members are always welcome to join our on-going groups.

Additional parking is available across the street at Brooks Park and behind Town Hall.
