Sat., Jan. 30 – 2:00 p.m. – “Green Clean” with
Paulette Jacinto – Come join Paulette, owner of Olfactory Comfort, to
learn about natural products that can be found around the home for cleaning
without using harsh chemicals.
Tues., Feb. 2 – 5:15 p.m. –
Computer Tutor - One-on-one computer tutoring session with Anna Murphy.
Registration required. Only one session per person is available so we can serve
as many individuals as possible.
Tues., Feb. 2 – 6:30 p.m. – Evening Book Group - Pick up a
copy of City of Falling Angels by John Berendt at the Circulation Desk
and join us to discuss it.
Wed., Feb. 3 –10:15 a.m. Writers Group– Experienced and aspiring writers are
invited to share with each other
Wed., Feb. 3 - 12:00 p.m.. – Computer Tutor – One-on-one computer tutoring session with Bonnie Bissette.
Registration required. Only one session per person is available so we can serve
as many individuals as possible.

Knit-Lit Group Experienced knitters and novices are invited to bring their
needles and yarn and to share favorite knitting stories and experiences with
other knitters.
Fri., Feb. 5 – 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Science 1st
Friday – “The World of the Caribbean Spiny Lobster” -Heinz Proft will share research
work he conducted on artificial reefs in the Florida Keys with the Caribbean
Marine Research Center. A native of Minnesota, Proft has a Master’s Degree in
Marine Fisheries from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science at the College
of William and Mary and has also worked as a Research Associate with the Boston
University Marine Program in Woods Hole. An avid scuba diver and private pilot,
he has been the Town of Harwich Natural Resources Officer and Assistant
Harbormaster for the past twelve years.

Feb. 6 – 1:00 p.m. - Library Cinema showing of Michael Jackson’s This Is It – A behind the scenes look at Michael
Jackson as he developed, created and rehearsed for his sold out final concerts
in London. Public performance license acquired from Movie Licensing U.S.A.
Sun., Feb. 7 – 2:00 p.m. – Cape Cod Chamber Music
Ensemble –Under the direction of founder and bassoonist David
Gallagher a concert will be presented of classic woodwind quintet music.

of Sports in Boston – Sports Museum Curator, Richard Johnson will
provide an entertaining and perceptive talk on Boston’s sports lore covering
over two centuries, from Ben Franklin’s swimming exploits to the latest news
from Fenway Park, Gillette Stadium and the Garden.

Thurs., Feb. 25 - 11:00 a.m. – Jewels of the Opera– Tired
of ho-hum opera? Join Dr. Norman B. Reiss and experience a unique selection
from the heart of Opera each interpreted by a master singer. Dr. Reiss has
authored “ Maria Callas and the Feminine Mystique” and is a Director of Cape
Cod Opera.
Sat., Feb. 27 – 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. - Plastic Bag Yarn
(Plarn) & Plastic Bag Wreaths– Kristy Medina of http://www.textiles4you.com will
teach participants to make yarn and wreaths from plastic grocery bags. She is a
firm believer in “Being Green” and reusing as many items as possible. We ask
that you please register ahead of time so we may be certain to have adequate
materials. Call the Circulation Desk at 508-430-7562 during open library hours
to register.
Funding for programs comes
from the Howard W. Lang Trust Fund
and from the Friends of the
Brooks Free Library.
All
programs are presented free of charge and are open to the public.
New
members are always welcome to join our on-going groups.

parking is available across the street at Brooks Park and behind Town Hall.
