Option A: Curbside

When you receive your hold pickup notice you can call the library during business hours to schedule a curbside pickup appointment. Remember, you do not need to pick up your item the same day you receive your email. You can schedule your pick up for any available block that’s within a week of receiving your email. For example:

Jane Eyre receives her email hold notice on Monday, but she works full time as a teacher and her next free day is next week on Wednesday after 4 PM. Jane calls the library when she gets her email on Monday, schedules her appointment for next Wednesday during the evening block, and tells her Alexa speaker to remind her to go get her books that day between 4 – 6:30 PM. Meanwhile, the librarians breathe a sigh of relief because they have scheduled an appointment a couple of days out, meaning no one has to sprint to put a bag outside.

Sound good? Okay. That’s option A. For more details about Curbside visit How does Curbside work?. Now let’s talk about option B–

Option B: Grab & Go

During our Grab & Go phase, you have the option of coming into the library to pick up your holds. There is no need to make an appointment to pick up items at Grab & Go.

When you arrive at the library you’ll want to pop on your mask, check in with the Greeter, then head up to the Hold Pickup Window located immediately next to the front desk on the 1st Floor. Look for the big plexiglass area that looks like this:

The hold pickup window! See the bust of Burns in the corner? That’s where the librarian will be who can help you with your holds.

Please do not hand us your card! For your safety and for ours, we are trying to limit the amount of times we pass items back and forth. If you have your library card with you, you can hold it up to the plexiglass for use to scan through, or you can give us your name and street address so we can look you up.

For more details about Grab & Go, please visit How does Grab & Go work?.

Keep in mind there is no self-pickup of holds at this time. If you want to pick up your holds you will have to come to the window. The librarian there will check your items out for you.

You are more than welcome to bring your own bag to put your items in! We have a small stash on hand but we really need to reserve our bags for Curbside hours, so we encourage you to bring your own. We will pass your items to you through the window to bag yourself.
