Full-Time: Staff Librarian – Circulation

Brooks Free Library in Harwich has an opening for a Staff Librarian to manage the Circulation function. The incumbent will manage circulation operations, train and direct Circulation staff and volunteers, provide readers advisory services, and be responsible for the accuracy of patron database and collection maintenance in assigned areas.

This position requires attention to detail, strong technology and customer service skills and knowledge of library operations, policies and procedures. A Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Technology or the social sciences preferred, however, a candidate with an equivalent combination of education and experience, including two years of directly related experience will be considered. Regular evenings and Saturdays required. This position is full-time, with full benefits, and a salary range of $25.76 – $32.11 per hour.

Part-Time: Youth Services

The Brooks Free Library is looking for a part time Youth Services Librarian. Ideally, we’d find someone who can work several evenings from 3-7 (flexible about which evenings!) and alternate Fridays and Saturdays during the day, but we can be flexible. The salary range is $22.28 – $27.76 per hour, for 19 hours a week. The position does not have benefits.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with young people, especially middle schoolers, in a relatively unstructured environment. The employee may occasionally run a program, but the majority of their work would be working on typical library projects such as readers advisory for young people, shelving, withdrawing old books, etc., while supervising the Youth Services area of the library after school and on alternating Saturdays.
