The Knit Lit group meets every Wednesday from 12:30 to 2:30, in the Thornton Room. Knitters of all abilities are welcome. For more information please contact Carla Burke, who coordinates our Knit Lit program. You may reach her by calling 508-430-7562 ext. 5 or by email at cburke@clamsnet.org.
During the two hours that the group meets each week, members knit, discuss books, and socialize.
Throughout the year individuals knit their own items and occasionally work together on charitable projects. Some of the charities that have received knitted items from the group are:
- The Family Pantry of Cape Cod
- Cape Cod Hospital
- A Baby Center
- The Latham Center
- The Italian Home for Children
Members also knit holiday gifts for patrons enrolled in the library’s Books on Wheels program.
The occasional Literary Challenge is one of the group’s favorite activities. With knitting as the theme, members are challenged to write a poem, limerick, haiku, or another type of literary form. Prizes are awarded and the winners enjoy boasting rights!
If you are looking for a fun way to spend your Wednesday afternoons please join us. New members are always welcome!
