Welcome to the Brooks Free Library Children’s Room!

We are thrilled to offer a wide range of books, audiobooks, DVDs, board games, video games, kits, pre-loaded tablets and much more! With an enormous children’s room well stocked with a variety of toys to spark creativity and imagination, a bank of computers for homework and gaming, as well as a wide range of programming for children of all ages, we invite you to join us in celebrating the unique joys and requirements of childhood.

Special Programs

Halloween Parade! Our annual parade for costumed preschoolers and toddlers will be October 31st at 10:30! After a brief Halloween themed story time, we will march over to the Royal, the Winstead Inn, and end our parade at the Town Hall! No registration is required.

Regular Programs 

All of our regular programs are free and do not require registration. All ages are welcome unless otherwise noted. For a full listing of our FREE programs, including special events and programs for ages 11+ visit our event calendar!

For babies, toddlers and preschoolers

Mondays at 10:30 – Mother Goose on the Loose Babies, toddlers, and preschoolers can sing songs and play with musical instruments.

Wednesdays at 10:30 – Preschool Projects We will do a variety of projects – art, science, etc. – designed for preschoolers!

Fridays at 10:30 – Story Time We will read stories and sing songs.

For Elementary School Students

Mondays at 3:00 – Harwich Junior Theater Explorer Emily Murray from the HJT will lead students in learning about improv and acting.

Tuesdays at 11:00 – Homeschooling Fun – The first Tuesday is Book Club, the third Tuesday is Activity Club. Alternate Tuesdays we work on our Destination Imagination Homeschooling Team projects.

Thursdays at 3:00 – Lego Fun The library owns huge tubs of Lego blocks! Come and free play, or choose one of our building challenge cards!
