Welcome to the Brooks Free Library Children’s Room!

We are thrilled to offer a wide range of books, audiobooks, DVDs, board games, video games, kits, pre-loaded tablets and much more! With an enormous children’s room well stocked with a variety of toys to spark creativity and imagination, a bank of computers for homework and gaming, as well as a wide range of programming for children of all ages, we invite you to join us in celebrating the unique joys and requirements of childhood.

Special Programs

Special programs are offered regularly each month and during school vacations.  Check our Library Calendar for more details.

February Vacation:

Star Wars Party We’ll be celebrating the Star Wars experience on Tuesday, February 18th at 2:00. Join us for Star Wars themed crafts and games. Feel free to wear a costume if you have one! Please REGISTER by emailing Ann at or calling 508-430-7562 ext 2.

Clay Creatures: Make a creature out of clay on Wednesday, February 19th at 3:00! No registration is required.

 Board Game Extravaganza: Join us Thursday, February 20th at 2:30 to try out a slew of board games. Since most of the library games have been published in the last five years, you’ll likely encounter many new-to-you games! No registration is required.

Sheet Fort Night:  Making a fort out of sheets is a time-honored tradition of childhood. The Brooks Free Library is celebrating Family Forts on Saturday, February 22nd. Come to the library at 5:30 to feast upon pizza, then build a sheet fort in the library to read a book or play a board game by flashlight. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Please register by Friday, February 21st by emailing Ann at or calling 508-430-7562 ext 2.

Regular Preschool Programs 

All of our regular programs are free and do not require registration. All ages are welcome unless otherwise noted. For a full listing of our FREE programs, including special events and programs for ages 11+ visit our event calendar!

For babies, toddlers and preschoolers

Mondays at 10:30 – Mother Goose on the Loose Babies, toddlers, and preschoolers can sing songs and play with musical instruments.

Wednesdays at 10:30 – Preschool Projects During the school year preschoolers are invited to a variety of projects and art experiences! Some projects are messy, so play clothes are encouraged!

Fridays at 10:30 – Story Time We will read stories and sing songs every Friday!

Regular After School Programs

Mondays at 3:00 – HJT Theater Explorer Members of the Cape Cod Theater Company will run theater games and improve scenes with students. The elementary school program runs 3:00-4:00 and is for first grade through fourth graders. The middle school/high school program is 4:00-5:00 and for grades 5 and above. The first session will be mid-September to Mid-November.

Thursdays at 3:00 – Lego Fun Children of all ages are invited to join us for free play with our zillions of Lego blocks and kits!
